Posted by Bill Rusnak as Film Experience
I’ve seen, and love, about half of their movies however my experience with their work is fairly limited to their well known classics (Lebowski, No Country, Fargo, etc…). It pains me to say I haven’t seen any of their first four films, or their early 2000 work…
In total, they’ve written and directed 14 films and I plan on seeing each one either again, or for the first time beginning with my first viewing of 1984’s “Blood Simple”.
Here is the way it’s going to work: Each week I am going to watch one of their movies according to the schedule below. On the Wednesday of that week, I’m going to post my video blog reaction to the movie. My goal is to see each of the 14 movies in 14 weeks and at the end of it, have a Flickchart type ranking of for their body of work.
As of now, my favorite is “No Country For Old Men”. How will that change if at all? Who knows! Each video blog reaction will have an updated list of how the films fall in order of my favorite all the way down to my least favorite. Stay tuned.
Film Fest Schedule:
Blood Simple – October 14th (Update: Now posted. View it here.)
Raising Arizona – October 21st (Update: Now Posted. View it here.)
Miller’s Crossing – October 28th (Update: Now Posted. View it here.)
Barton Fink – November 4th (Update: Now Posted. View it here.)
The Hudsucker Proxy – November 11th (Update: Now Posted. View it here.)
Fargo – November 18th (Update: Now Posted. View it here.)
**Dates updated November 27th to reflect the new schedule. I missed a week due to a whole whack of reasons… ‘The Big Lebowski’ continues the series on December 2nd. Nothing posted on November 25th.**
The Big Lebowski – December 2nd
O Brother, Where Art Thou? – December 9th
The Man Who Wasn’t There – December 16th
Intolerable Cruelty – December 23rd
The Ladykillers – December 30th
No Country For Old Men – January 6th
Burn After Reading – January 13th
A Serious Man – Wildcard. In order to catch it in theaters, I’ll be seeing “A Serious Man” sooner rather than later. (Update: Now Posted. View it here.)
Since you know the dates, I encourage you to view along with me. Again, those are the dates that I’ll be posting my video blogs. If you want to get involved, send me your questions or comments etc… by the Tuesday before at 7PM EST. That way, I’ll hopefully be able to include them in my video blog for that week’s movie.
And with that, I’m off. I’m posting “Blood Simple” this coming Wednesday so get to viewing. Enjoy!
