Hit the jump for my bottom line for “The September Issue”

The September Issue Poster
The Bottom Line: 4.5/5. While “The September Issue” is nowhere near my kind of movie, it is rare that I will back down from an invitation to see a movie I’ve never seen before. R.J. Cutler put together a fascinating documentary that gives the audience unprecedented access to Anna Wintour, the Editor In Chief of ‘Vogue’ as well as the rest of her immediate staff. “The September Issue” is informative, compelling, and funny and is a film that I would recommend to anyone looking for a good documentary and anyone looking to see how a publication as huge a “Vogue” runs from day to day.

My experience with Anna was limited only to Meryl Streep’s portrayal of her in “The Devil Wears Prada” so to see how she actually interacts with her staff was intriguing. Of course she is abbrasive but what is commendable is her sheer confidence in her opinion and her ability to be resolute in the decisions she makes. Her empire at ‘Vogue’ has not only built and strengthened the magazine but at the same time, become a pillar in the fashion industry.

Go see “The September Issue” if it is playing at a theater near you. I believe it is in limited release now.
