About Widescreen Wonderland

Welcome to Widescreen Wonderland!

I’m Bill Rusnak and this site is dedicated to bringing you movie reviews, discussions, and commentary. I’m doing this in a few different ways:

Film Watch features – I write up a quick (or lengthy) discussion of each film that I watch. Old or new, first time watch or a revisit, it doesn’t matter. Some of the write ups will be short, others will be longer. The point of these is to document my thoughts on every movie I watch and to also note how many films I see and how long I spend watching them. Click here to go to the Film Watch page.

Film Experience features – Everyone has holes in the list of films they’ve seen. Some people will admit it, others won’t. The Film Experience idea came about as I realized that I had not seen about half of the Coen Brother’s body of work. To fix this, I decided to watch one of their films a week, write up a discussion for each movie, and rank them as I see them so that at the end of the Experience, I’ll not only have seen them all, but I’ll also have compiled a list of their movies in order of preference. To follow along with my Coen Brothers Film Experience as well as all the others that will follow, you can do so here.

The bottom line of each of my movie reviews & discussions is to bring you a rating that will hopefully help you make a decision on whether to see a movie or not. It’s as simple as that. I’ll also do my best to place each film in its proper context and focus on its entertainment value. Not ever film genre is created equal and thus, an action film will be compared to action films, a drama, to other dramas etc…

I use a scale of 1-5 for my reviews:

5 – An instant classic. Theater worthy, see it immediately.
4 – A great movie and still theater worthy.
3 – If you want to see it, do it. If not, wait for the video and you won’t be upset.
2 – Take it or leave it but nothing spectacular.
1 – Don’t bother. Not worth the time.

Widescreen Wonderland is a work in progress so be sure to check back frequently. Also, do let me know if there is anything you would like to see on here.

Enjoy.
